Sky Business: getting pubs and venues signed up

Sky for Business was a client of Tangent’s, where I was tasked with boosting visibility of the service to relevant audiences. I led the marketing and digital marketing initiatives behind it, across paid search, paid social, LinkedIn and the organic side of the website.

01 / The brief

From living rooms to licensed venues

Sky’s core focus was B2C, selling general Sky subscriptions to households. Sky Business wanted more of a focus on getting pubs and other venues registered and signed up to Sky Business packages.

That meant reaching a very different audience: licensees, venue owners and operators, who needed a clear reason to choose Sky for their premises.

I led the marketing and digital marketing initiatives to get there, from campaign ideas and promotional assets through to paid media, organic search and the monthly reporting that tracked what was working.

02 / Initiatives I led

Marketing and digital marketing, led end to end

01Monthly at Osterley

I attended regular monthly meetings with the Sky Business team at Osterley.

02Subscription reporting

I owned the monthly reporting, delivering a report on new subscriptions each month that showed which source and traffic medium they came from across the promotions run, whether paid social or Google Ads (PPC).

03Organic search

I led work on the organic side of the website which, surprisingly for Sky, was largely unoptimised.

04Ideas and assets for venues

To get more pubs and venues signing up, I led the marketing ideas, briefing in creative assets and ways in which to promote Sky Business packages to them.

05LinkedIn, organic and paid

I led LinkedIn activity, organically and through paid LinkedIn Ads, to drum up further awareness among venue owners and operators.
